Somatic Plant Medicine Directory

Founder

Isabel Cali

I want to recognize my teachers and their teachers, the indigenous people of the many land's past, present and future that hold plant medicine sacred, as well as the custodians of the land which continue to guide our human consciousness through wisdom and connection to the natural world.

My name is Isabel Cali, and I am the Founder of Mycelia Embodiment Practice. MEP was created through the realized need for trauma-informed spaces and resources in order for people to navigate their plant medicine experiences with full autonomy, intention, education and safety.

As an herbalist, I believe that all plants are intelligent in their own right. We see this through their connection to the mycelia network. The web where all plant life communicates through in order to survive and thrive. I believe that our own nervous system is a brilliant reflection of this intelligent web. From a somatic view, our nervous system is always working to keep us safe and to co-regulate our inner and outer environment.

Through much personal experience with Plant Medicine, it became clear to me that without trauma-informed principles and the inner and outer resources to navigate altered states of consciousness, people could experience further dysregulation, re-traumatization, and also the inability to fully embody the gifts received during the short trip.  I have felt this in my own nervous system. As my somatic skills developed, I noticed that my capacity to witness and process all parts of myself became more available to me. I could navigate these experiences with greater ease and resiliency, leading to a greater sense of wholeness.

My life work is dedicated to receiving, understanding, and sharing the wisdom of the natural world that comes from my own body, personal experience, and wisdom of the herbal healers and ceremony holders that have come before me. It is only from this place that I can help to guide, support and hold space for my clients to integrate their own wisdom.

I use trauma informed skills, co-regulation, and somatic inquiry to support you to access your inner truth in order to make meaning out of your plant medicine experience. I believe that all plants are powerful, even non-psycho active plants can be just as potent. Therefore, my somatic integration work can be coupled with all plant allies according to your current needs. If you are unsure of what plants may accompany your healing process, I would love to help you choose the appropriate remedies using my training in evolutionary herbalism.

Wherever you are on your plant path, I hope that Mycelia Embodiment Practice is a space that supports and empowers your personal healing. I really do believe that when we tend to our inner garden, the Earth heals too.

Mara LP López

I am a queer Bolivian bilingual spiritual somatic practitioner with over 15 years of experience learning from and contributing to yoga and psychedelic spaces. Born in Bolivia and raised in the DC area from age ten onward, I honor my Bolivian and Spanish heritage as well as my American upbringing. I am continually learning to situate myself in diverse communities with awareness of colonial, patriarchal, and capitalist histories. A compassionate rebel at heart, I question and challenge both my personal conditioning and the systemic realities I encounter. My calling and purpose are to love and to be of service to those seeking personal and collective healing.

My plant medicine path began in Perú — first in the Quechua lands of the Sacred Valley, and later within a Shipibo community in the Amazon. I spent two years facilitating ceremonial spaces in the jungle, dieting with master plants, and supporting journeyers in their inner work. In my integration sessions, I draw from the ICEERS model and primarily use the Somatic Inquiry method taught by Atira Tan.

In addition to my integration-specific training, my approach is informed by my experience as a 500-hour Yoga Teacher specializing in Pranayama and Kriya (breathwork) practices, my undergraduate studies in Cognitive Systems and Anthropology at the University of British Columbia, and my professional work supporting improved outcomes for individuals involved in the criminal justice system.

Yoga, breathwork, and plant medicine have been central to my own journey of healing from complex trauma. I remain deeply engaged in continuing education to refine my trauma-sensitive approach. If my background and experience resonate with you, it would be an honor to hold safe, loving, and grounded space as you prepare for and integrate your work with ancestral medicine.

I’d first like to acknowledge the Indigenous Elders who have a long history of being in
relationship with plant medicine. Much gratitude and respect to these custodians and to my
own Indigenous teachers.

I am licensed under the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and practicing in Ashland, Oregon.
This includes preparation sessions, ensuring a safe, comfortable and supported space for the
day of, and integration sessions.
The template I offer for a sacred journey is shaped by my own healing journey which started in
2003 as a way to create balance in my corporate focused life. Through the years I have studied
many different teachings and have had many experiences that led to some beautiful insights,
the greatest of which was from working with sacred medicine.

While I’ve been able to create a
broad tool kit to draw from, there are some key influencers for how I approach a journey:
• My experience with Peruvian shamanic arts greatly influences how I create ceremonial space
for the journey.
• Studying and practicing embodied/somatic inquiry informs my preparation and integration
practices. My primary studies have been with the Leela School, Irene Lyon and Atira Tan.
• My Shipibo plant medicine teacher and my relationship to sacred medicine are instrumental in
my approach and what I may suggest to those that plan to journey.
• The biggest influencer is the person journeying. They bring their own sacred intelligence into
the mix. My job is to listen at a deep level and be curious about what is most alive for the
client at this time in their life.

My goal is to provide a safe experience from which insights/realizations can be harvested and
embodied.
I would rather be whole than good. - Carl Jung
